People matter.

Sometimes, numbers numb us. We forget the one and focus on the multitude.
27,000,000 are a lot of men, women, boys, and girls caught in the grip of slavery.
147,000,000 are a lot of children in desperate need of a family.
780,000,000 are a lot of individuals dying simply because they lack clean, drinking water.

But Jesus never lost sight of the one.
He went out of His way for the women at the well. One toe at a time, He washed His disciples' feet. He put Himself in the middle of the situation, defending the women caught in adultery. He stopped in His tracks on the way to raise the dead, because one women was in desperate need of healing. He heals blind men (1, 2, 3, 4). He set prisoners free from spiritual bondage

People matter to Jesus.

“Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest you.” -Mother Teresa
