Project 31... "Day 1 + 12."

Day one: What is beauty to you?
Day twelve: Write about what wears you out as a woman.
Mandy over at She Breathes Deeply is doing a project called Project 31: Celebrating Beauty.
It's really cool, and I love reading what everyone has to say.
There's a little problem, there is no way I will be able to blog consistently for 31 days... I'm sort of a looser like that.
But I love the questions she asks, and the things she wants us to share.
So I'm going to blog about Day 1 and 12...Interchangeably. :)

"Every woman possesses a captivating beauty. Every woman. But for most of us it has been long buried, wounded, and captive. It takes time for it to emerge into wholeness. It needs to be cultivated, restored, set free." -Staci Eldredge (Captivating)

Beauty.
What wears me out the most is trying to be "beautiful."
I hate the lies everyone tries to feed us.
Bigger butt, smaller waist, longer legs, clearer skin... The list is endless.
When we focus so much on the outer, we can never be satisfied. We are running around as though we are headless chickens. We are never at rest.

But that's just it.
Beauty -- true, glory filled beauty -- comes from a heart that is at rest.
Who knows who she is. Who knows Who's she is.

"But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious." (1Pet.3:4)

"He will quiet you with His love." Zeph 3:17

"A woman of true beauty is a woman who in the depths of her souls is at rest, trusting God because she has come to know Him to be worthy of her trust. She exudes a sense of calm, a sense of rest, and invites those around her to rest as well... She knows that we live in a world at war, that we have a vicious enemy, and our journey is through a broken world. But she also knows that because of God all is well, that all will be well. A woman of true beauty offers the grace to be and the room to become." -Staci Eldredge (Captivating)

"Draw me after you; let us run..." Song of Songs 1:4a

Beauty is rest.
It's when we know that we are desired, fought after, longed for.

this is so encouraging. captivating was one of my favorite books! A lot of healing and restoration came out of that point in my journey. But Now I am at peace with the fact that if there is outward beauty in me it the reflection of His Glory shinning through me.
