Jonah was a prophet, ohh, ohh.

"But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord!" -Jonah 2:9
We've all heard the story before -- a guy gets swallowed by a big fish because he would not listen to God. Three dirty, smelly days later, the whale spat him out. Gross.
But not many people know of the applications to our lives today... here they are:
-A relationship with God must lead to love for neighbors.
-When you follow Jesus you give up the right to chose who you will love.
-You can tell how much you understand God's love for you to the degree you see that He loves others who don't deserve it either.
-God has mercy on us too in spite of our sin, even though we deserve justice judgement. {Romans 2:4}

{ps. I got the applications to our lives today from my Old Testament History class... yep, it was awesome.}
Happy day. :)
